The permayouth champions in Uganda continue to inspire with a wide range of projects.
In Nakivale refugee settlement, Ansima Casinga Rolande has just received a grant from a US-based foundation to create a living learning centre for women and children, and a tree-planning ecological regeneration project. Rolande is also hosting a youth leadership program to encourage other youth to step up as champions and educators in permaculture and regenerative livelihoods.
In Kyaka II refugee settlement, Hafasha Janvier is feeding orphans through his permaculture farm, offering education opportunities for young girls, and creating youth livelihood opportunities through a permaculture-inspired mushroom enterprise.
Both Rolande and Janvier are graduates of locally-led permaculture courses sponsored by the Ethos Foundation in Uganda. They have joined as speakers on the International Permaculture Festival of Wild Ideas and have received coveted leadership fellowship programs.

The Ethos Foundation supports a number of youth each month with a stipend so they can continue the work, seek grant opportunities for these amazing young leaders, and hosts six weekly peer-to-peer learning sessions on zoom.
Ethos receives its funds from regular donors, the Permaculture Education Institute’s festival, film club and masterclass programs, and always sends 100% of what it receives. To learn more and to donate, please go to Ethosfoundation.org
