A new era for Ecohub

Ecohub has been a centre for permaculture education and ecotherapy for refugees on Lesvos since 2017. Originally based in a community centre just across from the refugee camp, it has provided education and green shelter to tens of thousands of refugees over the years.

Launched by Better Days NGO in 2017, Ecohub was created to address one of the most pressing challenges faced by asylum seekers on Lesvos: the severe physical and mental health impacts of prolonged stagnation. In 2020, the project was handed over to the Sporos Regeneration Institute, evolving into a dedicated hub for permaculture education tailored to the needs of displaced populations.

Now, seven years later, and following the partnership of Sporos Regeneration Institute and Permaculture for Refugees (P4R), Ecohub is moving inside the camp itself. This relocation will allow us to better reach more beneficiaries and contribute directly to greening the camp environment.

Through our upcoming projects, we aim to develop replicable blueprints for similar initiatives in refugee camps across the European Union. We are deeply grateful for this opportunity and look forward to sharing updates with you as this new chapter unfolds.
